How We Started

Welcome to Shattuck Farm. We are nestled in the peaceful foothills of Northern California.  We moved here over 20 years ago to raise our family and work our jobs. After the children flew the coup and life slowed down some, there was an opportunity to explore latent passions. One day after I retired from my job I was scrolling Facebook and came across an add about making goat milk soap. I thought "WOW that is just what I've been wanting to learn" so I signed up for the class.  Now our small family farm is a place where hard work, nature, and simple living has come together. We lovingly raise goats, chickens, (I can't forget the dogs and cats) and care for thriving honeybee hives, creating product inspired by the land and the animals we value. Using fresh goat milk from our herd, we handcraft nourishing soaps and rich lotions designed to be gentle, moisturizing, and natural. From the hum of the bees to the quiet beauty of the countryside, every product we make reflects the warmth and care of life on our farm.

What goes into every bar.

I make my cold‑process goat milk soap in small batches to ensure every ingredient is blended with care. First, the oils—olive oil, coconut oil, and palm oil—are combined, while the goat milk and sodium hydroxide are mixed separately to create a gentle, creamy lye solution. Once oil mixture reach the right temperature, they’re blended together and finished with cosmetic‑grade fragrance oils or essential oils. Each batch is poured, cut, and cured for a full six weeks, allowing the bars to harden naturally and develop their signature rich, moisturizing lather.
