Accessibility
This page is for anyone who uses a screen reader, navigates with a keyboard instead of a mouse, relies on high-contrast text to read comfortably, or uses any other assistive technology to get around the web. We want shopping at Shattuck Farm Goat Milk Soap N Stuff to work for you.
We reviewed this site in October 2026, fixed every issue our tools found, and checked it again once our final content was in place. Here is what we found and what changed.
What we fixed
Headlines on our homepage slideshow were hard to read. The text sat directly on top of our farm photos, so in places it was white lettering over a white goat or white lotion bottles. Anyone with low vision, or anyone reading on a phone in bright sun, could lose the words entirely. Each slide's text now sits on a solid color panel, so it is easy to read on every slide.
Screen readers were announcing our small icons as unlabeled images. The little pictures for the menu, search, account, and the arrows on our question lists are decoration. The buttons they sit in already say what they do. But screen readers were stopping on each icon and announcing an image with no description, sometimes dozens of times on one page. We marked these icons as decorative, so screen readers now skip them and read only the button names.
Our About and FAQ pages had no main page heading. Many screen reader users jump straight to the main heading to find out where they are. Those two pages now have one, so they are announced as "About Us" and "FAQ."
The sort and filter area on our collection and search pages pointed screen readers to a label that did not exist. It now has a clear name ("Sort", or "Filter and sort" on search results), so screen reader users know what that area is for.
The filter panel on phones contained an empty heading. A screen reader would announce a heading with nothing in it, which is confusing. We removed it.
The quantity box on product pages had a labeling mistake that some screen readers could trip over. It is now labeled correctly, including how many of that item are already in your cart.
Some product photo descriptions were missing or not helpful. One photo had no description at all, one described the wrong thing, and many soap photos did not say which scent they showed. Every product photo now has an accurate description, and the photo for each soap scent names that scent.
What we can not fully test with automated tools
Alt text on product images. We know how important this is. A product image without a meaningful description means someone using a screen reader might not know what they are looking at. We write a description for every product photo, and we try to make each one tell you what you would see. If you find an image where the description does not help, please reach out. We want to fix it.
Keyboard use in the cart and pop-up windows. Our tools checked the pages themselves, but moving through the cart and pop-up windows with a keyboard takes hands-on testing. If something does not work with your keyboard, please let us know.
Cart and checkout. Once you move into checkout, you are on pages controlled by Shopify. We have not tested those flows, and some of what happens there is outside our control. If you run into something, let us know and we will do what we can, but there may be limits to what we are able to change.
Third-party tools. The cookie notice and the Shop Pay button are provided by Shopify. The markup we control is accessible; their code is outside our control. If you have trouble with either one, please let us know.

Technical details
This review was completed on October 15, 2026. All pages were scanned again on October 23, 2026, after our final content edits, with the same results.
Pages reviewed:
Tools used: pa11y with axe and htmlcs runners, Google Lighthouse, WAVE API (WebAIM). The axe rules were also run at phone screen width.
Standard: WCAG 2.1 AA and WCAG 2.2 AA.
Results: WAVE reported zero errors and zero contrast errors on all 6 pages. Lighthouse scored 100 on all 6 pages. pa11y reported no confirmed issues. A small number of color contrast flags from axe were checked by hand. The tools could not see the background behind some text, for example text that fades in as you scroll or text on a panel over a photo. We measured each case directly, and all of them pass, and WAVE found no contrast errors on any page. All confirmed issues identified by automated tools were fixed before this statement was published.
